Open Days
The Ruskin hosts three Open Days during each academic year. We select the same dates as the main University Open Days, when many other departments and colleges are also open. Our schedule is also planned to ensure that you have sufficient time to attend college events. You are welcome to come and visit us on these days and tour the studios.
There is no requirement to visit the Ruskin prior to applying, but you may well find it very useful to come and see our facilities, meet some students and hear more about what we can offer. Our next three Open Days will be during 2012: June 27th, June 28th and September 14th.
Each Open Day follows the same programme and the afternoon session mirrors the morning, so there is no need or advantage in coming to more than one session. The school has two sites within Oxford at 74 High Street & 128 Bullingdon Road and we start our tour at the High Street. No booking is required, just come along on the day.
PLEASE NOTE : It is not possible to review any portfolios during an Open Day or any other visit to the Ruskin. Visits present an opportunity to see the facilities, hear about the course and understand more about the admissions process.
10.00 a.m. - 12.00 p.m.
Introduction at 74 High Street followed by a tour of the studios. Afterwards you can tour the studios and workshops at 128 Bullingdon Road. Members of staff and some students will be available to chat to you at both sites. The studios and workshops at Bullingdon Road are approximately 15 minutes from High Street.
2.30 p.m. - 4.30 p.m.
A repeat of the morning session.
Parking in Oxford is very limited and should be avoided if possible. Park & Ride bus services operate between the city centre and parking areas on the outskirts. Drivers coming to Oxford from the east, including London, the south and the west are advised to use the Redbridge Park & Ride, while drivers arriving from the north can choose between Pear Tree and Water Eaton. Please avoid both the Thornhill and Seacourt Park & Rides which are often full very early in the morning, especially on Open Days.
Full details on the buses to Oxford city centre from all the Park & Rides are available at http://www.parkandride.net More detailed travel directions are available on this site under the About section.
Please be aware that the Open Days are principally directed towards BFA applicants. If you are considering applying to study at the Ruskin as a postgraduate, attending an Open Day can be useful for a tour of our facilities but the introduction and talk by the tutors will be less focused on your needs. For any further enquiries you may have, please contact the Ruskin office on 01865 276940.
The Ruskin is open from 9 - 5 pm each week day for private tours, apart from Tuesday morning, when the school is closed to visitors.
