Launch of the Ruskin Alumni Society

The Ruskin Alumni Society was officially launched on Thursday 13 January at a drinks reception in the stunning Saatchi Gallery, London. Over 230 alumni were present amongst academic members of staff, art dealers, collectors and philanthropists.

Surrounded by a backdrop of the current exhibition Newspeak: British Art Now (Part 2), Ruskin alumni gathered together for the first time to celebrate the work of the School and it’s 140th Anniversary.

The venue was chosen to host the first official alumni event as the Ruskin has several links with the Saatchi Gallery and collection through its alumni and the Ruskin Professional Practice Programme. Five alumni feature in the Newspeak exhibition: Tessa Farmer (BFA 1997-2000), Nicholas Hatfull (BFA 2003-6), Sigrid Holmwood (BFA 1997-2000), Kate Groobey (BFA 1997-2000) and Ged Quinn (BFA 1981-4).

The event was a resounding success, with many former students travelling from far and wide to see each other for the first time since leaving the Ruskin.
