Old School runners win by a stretch!

Early on Sunday two teams (Old School vs Students) met at the High Street to compete in the Oxford 10K Town and Gown run for Muscular Dystrophy. In true Ruskin style I managed to set off the burglar alarm by typing in the incorrect code - a great start to the day - well at least it woke us all up! Dressed in our rather dashing yellow t-shirts made by Kinga we all headed down to South Parks road.

Standing by the start line I watched each yellow t-shirt go by, but felt like someone was missing…. low and behold walkie talkie messages we coming through to the race marshalls - one more runner to come, should we hang on or not? Its really holding up proceedings…..touch and go, touch and go and then who comes up the long stretch but our very own Erin Hughes! I shout “What are you doing Erin?!” The response is “I had to go back to college - I left my chip there!”

Gotta love em…. and moments like this make you love working at the Ruskin.

Team “Old School” won by a mile thanks to alumni Jim Allchin, Tom Farthing, Ed Rushton and former Head of School, Michael Archer. Winning chip times and places crossing the line:

Jim Allchin           38:38 (67th)
Tom Farthing         46:41 (573rd)
Ed Rushton           50:32 (1023rd)
Erin Hughes           52:32 (1597th)
Michael Archer       52:37 (1252nd)
Kinga Lubowiecka   53.54 (1388th)
Annabel Bertie       58:43 (1937th)

Next year there will be Staff vs Old School vs Students!! Get training!
