Visit to Waddesdon Manor
Last Friday Ruskin students enjoyed a visit to Waddesdon Manor with Sarah Wilkinson in preparation for the annual postcard competition (for more details see http://www.ruskin-sch.ox.ac.uk/courses/prizes). The welcome was warm and generous as always and the day began with an insightful talk by Diana Stone (Assistant Curator) on the history of the Manor followed by a visit into the house and grounds and a sandwich lunch. The students enjoyed sketching and taking photographs of some of the many and diverse aspects of the collection, architecture and gardens. The Anish Kapoor Mountain in the aviary and the display of Warhol’s Jewish portraits in the Stable’s exhibition space, were both contemporary highlights worth seeing.
