Introduction to Short Courses

The Ruskin School of Art offers a selection of short courses.  Details of the programmes we will be offering in 2014 are now listed below. 

Oxford University Alumni are also offered a 10% discount on all the summer short courses.

University of Oxford Alumni are entitled to a 10% discount on each of the summer courses.  Alumni are simply asked to present their OU Alumni card on the first day of the course and information about these cards can be found here: https://www.alumniweb.ox.ac.uk/secure/page.aspx?pid=2043  This offer is not extended to the term time life drawing classes.

Life Drawing

The Ruskin School continues to offer life drawing classes during the academic year.

We offer three, eight week courses in term time, with teaching by different tutors.  It will be possible to make bookings for Michaelmas Term from 29th September 2014.

This year, we are also offering a Three Day Life Drawing course for beginners and a Five Day Life Drawing Course, Advanced that can be taken separately or booked together.

Short Courses

The Ruskin also offers a selection of short courses that are open to anyone aged 16 years and over.  Each course is non-residential and is held in the Old Masters’ Studio & the Drawing Studio at 74 High Street, Oxford, OX1 4BG.

The Ruskin now offers additional programmes in the study of human anatomy. 

The highly successful Art & Anatomy course will continue in 2014 with Sarah Simblet. 

This course was developed in response to the significant interest surrounding Dr Simblet’s book Anatomy for the Artist and provides a unique insight into the study of human anatomy. 

The dates of the 2 seven day courses next year are:

Art & Anatomy, Course 1      21st July- 27th July 2014          
Course fees - Standard: £950.00/ OU Alumni: £855.00

Art & Anatomy, Course 2       11th August - 17th August 2014    
Course fees - Standard: £950.00/ OU Alumni: £855.00

Head and Neck (Portraiture) Anatomy
An additional five day course has been developed in response to the overwhelming success of the Art & Anatomy course.  Together with Eleanor Crook, Sarah will guide her students in this new dynamic course that will continue to offer a unique and distinctive way in which to explore human anatomy in greater depth. 

The course dates are Monday 4th August - Friday 8th August 2014    
Course fees - Standard: £750.00/OU Alumni: 675.00
