Screening of No, Stop, Statue, Machine by Melissa Appleton at Modern Art Oxford as part of ‘An Unfinished World: Artists’ Shorts.’

Premiered at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London in 2011, No Stop, Statue, Machine occupies a dark and cavernous environment, a well-oiled city machine reflected endlessly at the edges of a familiar world. A series of interlinked characters and narratives give structure to the mirrored walls and gridded planes.  Buildings weep and sigh, infrastructures conduct thoughts, and staircases become machines for endless exercise.
