Elizabeth Price awarded Arts Council England Helen Chadwick Fellowship 2010-11

London-based artist Elizabeth Price (BFA 1985-8) has been awarded this year’s Arts Council England Helen Chadwick Fellowship.

Elizabeth will be conducting a month-long reconnaissance in Rome in September, followed by two months of research at St. John’s College, Oxford in preparation for three months’ intensive studio practice at the British School at Rome. During the course of her Fellowship, she will be investigating the relationship between the subterranean architecture of Oxford and Rome.
Elizabeth is an artist who uses digital and reprographic media to explore existing art and design objects, collections and archives. She works in high-definition digital video, with live action, motion graphics, 3D computer animation and sound.
During 2010 Elizabeth has developed a project at Tate Britain called Perfect Courses and Shimmering Obstacles. She has also recently shown USER GROUP DISCO at Spike Island, Bristol, Strange Objects Permit Themselves the Luxury of Occurring at Camden Arts Centre, London, Word/Event at the Kunsthalle Basel and One Brief Moment at Apex Art, New York. In 2010-11 she will be exhibiting in the British Art Show 7, and she is working on a major new video West Hinder with Film London. Elizabeth is the subject of a major feature in the October issue of Frieze magazine.
