Keith Wilson awarded this year’s Arts Council England Oxford-Melbourne Fellowship
Keith Wilson has been awarded this year’s Arts Council England Oxford-Melbourne Fellowship, a six-month cross-disciplinary opportunity at the University of Oxford and the University of Melbourne.
The Fellowship is offered to an artist for a project that could be made possible or enhanced by spending periods of time in Oxford and Melbourne, and it is awarded through limited nomination.
Keith will be using his time in Oxford and Melbourne to undertake institutional critiques of arts organisations in the host cities and has already begun working with Modern Art Oxford, one of Britain’s leading venues for the presentation of modern and contemporary visual art.
A typical Keith Wilson work incorporates some or all of the following: a found structure, an existing knowledge system, a formal reference to a historical sculptural practice and the bodily engagement of the viewer. His most recent solo exhibition Things took place at the Wellcome Collection in London last October and he is included in the British Art Show 7, which is touring Britain through 2010-11. He is also the co-curator of the current exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts on Modern British Sculpture.
Previous recipients of the Arts Council England Oxford-Melbourne Fellowship include Bryndís Snæbjörnsdóttir, Paul Rooney, Louise K Wilson, Daniel Gustav Cramer and Christina Mackie.
