Processes of hunting, herding, harvesting and display all form part of an integral narrative in my work. Having studied Printmaking for B.A. (in Manchester) and at M.A. at the R.C.A. ideas of the 2-D, the graphic, pattern, surface Êand reproduction are all apparent in the way I approach my own work; and also form part of what I am interested to explore in the Print Area at The Ruskin.
I work with things that, for varieties of reasons, have been discarded and are considered to have reached the end of their useful or normal lives. Using methods of recycling and re-presentation certain translations occur, narratives are reinvented and individual histories are revealed; an archaeological trace-study of todays artefacts. My work in Print has ranged from a 75foot hanging screen-print, a series of 4-colour facsimile prints of my collection of vintage vinyl (http://www.museum-of-linoleum.com) and printing graphics, designed to be scuffed away, onto the floor. Back in my studio I will be adding to various heaps of collated stuff, which as they grow in size, might be pushed around, balanced, cut in half or suspended..
